The Samsung SCX-4300 Multifunction Laser Printer is a more affordable version of the Samsung SCX-4500. It is not a big difference between the two printers; both of them have laser-based technology and were designed as having the black color plastic case. In fact, the Samsung SCX-4300 has a more practical approach of the tasks that a multifunctional should provide. The shape of the SCX-4300 multifunctional is wider at the top to ease the managing of the scanning processes. Also, at the top of the multifunctional device was placed a control panel and easy access buttons for printing, scanning, or faxing.

This control panel has a two-line display and 16 character type, on an LCD screen. There is no backlight, but the contrast of the characters is good enough, which make it very readable and easy to navigate on. An opening for the emergent pages was placed right next to the control panel, while to make sure the papers will not fall on the ground there is a pull-out end stop as well. The feed tray supports 250-sheet papers and is placed at the bottom of the front panel. This amount of pages is obviously large enough compared with other printers of its class, including the SCX-4500. There is also a single sheet multi-purpose opening that suits special documents.

The lid of the scanner will open up only half way to vertically, which is not so convenient due to the fact that only a hand can get inside in order to arrange papers and avoid paper jams. The other multi-purpose devices of its class would have a vertically opening of the scanner’s section. In the back side of the Samsung SCX-4300 Multifunction Laser Printer there are the USB ports and the sockets for power, which are all the data connections you can find on this printer.

Behind the front panel of the Samsung SCX-4300 Multifunction Laser Printer you will find the integrated drum and toner cartridge, this is why the front panel was designed to be opened in order to provide access to these compounds. As a conclusion to the designed chosen by the Samsung Company, we can notice and admire the effort to make a not too heavy and wide multi-purpose device, by adding more smart features to its boxy appearance. A free cartridge comes together with the package of the Samsung SCX-4300 Printer, which will last for 1,000 ISO documents, which is not too much but enough for normal use. This printer has an affordable price, and the smaller cartridge should be considered as an unexpected and welcomed bonus to the package.

As for the software the new Samsung SCX-4300 Multifunction Laser Printer is equipped with, it uses the same SmarThru 4 and Dr. Printer utilities. The Laser Printer utility ensures the easy handling of the scanner, printer, copier, and images sharing, whereas the SmartThru 4 utility is in charge of the diagnose of the websites. The driver manages the manifold print quality settings such as the watermarks, or overlays, with the help of an accessible control panel.

Samsung ML-2510 printer is a monochrome laser printer, which offers an easy installation process that does not need to reboot, and good printing satisfaction. This printer was designed for small offices use, and provides very qualitative and sharp monochrome printings, with the help of the 1,200 x 600 dpi print resolution and the remarkable speed of 24 ppm. It is recommended to be used in small office environments, as well as in homes. You will be amazed especially by the clarity and professional-looking appearance of the printed documents, even if you choose to print many of them at the same time.

If you worry about black fingers and paper jams, you have the Samsung jam-free roller system, which ensures that the papers stay in order. Another advantage of this printer will be the small size that will fit in every small room, whether from office or home, and will also provide impressive print quality at a small prize as well.

Thinking about its pros and cons, there are more good sides than bad sides. The first pro is its cheap price, which is also combined with the impressive capabilities that are not so characteristic to other small-office printers. It is a reliable and resistant printer, and has the option to avoid paper jams for at least 500 sheets.

The not so good side of the Samsung ML-2510 is the fast warm up that shows that it uses a lot of power in order to function. Another con is the fact that to replace the toner you should pay almost as much as the printer’s cost itself. There is also some noise while printing, but that will fade away in silent power-save status. All these cons will not weight too much when thinking about the printing quality and overall good capacities.

When scouting for an office printer it doesn’t really matter what kind of person you’re asking, most of them will suggest some pretty well known names such as HP or Canon. Still, from personal experience, the most encountered printers in small businesses is probably Samsung.

Despite them never being amazing they’ve always provided reliability and little to no page jams or problems. What do most Samsung SCX laser printers that you can find in small offices have in common? They were all pretty affordable, they are all decently fast and most of them seem to be monochrome.

In a world where everyone wants as many features as possible out of one single device, and the most sought after printer type would most likely be the photo multifunctional printer that can do anything your office needs plus print high quality photography, it’s no wonder that the prices of multifunction monochrome printers has gone down a lot.

Samsung’s SCX-4600 for example is an affordable monochrome all-in-one laser that can offer most of what your office will ever need (assuming, of course, you don’t need color printing whatsoever). First of all, the printer is easy to set up and all a user has to do is to connect the printer to a PC (via USB) after which install the driver.

Right on top of the printer you can find the scanner. In front of the scaner lays the control panel that’s pretty easy to figure out. A 2 line 16 character LCD is more than enough for navigating, paired up with a four way navigational key with an OK key right in the middle. Connectivity is in this case limited to the single USB port found on the back and there are no networking functions whatsoever.

As always the printing speeds claimed by the manufacturers, have for some reason nothing to do with what really happens when you’re using the printers. So, while Samsung claims 22 pages per minute for the SCX-4600 in reality it can do about half as that. Apparently the higher the number of pages you need to print (which obviously eliminates the processing time), the higher the speed you’re printing at. While not amazing, the printing quality is more than good for such an affordable printer. Text printing is worthy of being printed by a laser.

Finally, what’s very important about this kind of device is the cost of maintenance. The toner cartridge can be found in either 1500 page or 2500 page versions. The larger capacity one is obviously more economical and will result in printing costs that are average for monochrome laser printers. The 4600 Samsung SCX laser printers are the entry-level, affordable type of printers that will work well in any small or home office where users aren’t very demanding. The only drawback is that you’re stuck with a printer with no networking.

The Samsung CLP-315W color laser printer offers wireless connectivity, a stylish design and small form factor. While it was mainly designed for a home office it will do quite well in a small working environment with a few employees. With measurements of 15.3 x 12.3 x 9.6 inches and weighing merely 24.3 pounds, it’s probably the smallest compared to competition. In fact, most laser color printers on the market are nearly two times as big as the CLP-315W. The printer’s design is pretty simple.

It comes with a black case with accents of glossy plastic here and there and features rounded corners. The control panel of the printer sitting near the top is also very simple. A big button serves for on/off and next to it a couple of LED lights announce when you’re either of ink or a paper jam has occurred.

Oddly enough Samsung didn’t add a cancel button. So if you’re using this printer in a workgroup and you’re PC is in the other room, off you go running to it to cancel the print job. This assuming it’s more than 5-6 pages otherwise you’ll have no chance to get there in time. For paper storage Samsung included a 150 sheet paper input tray. For easy use and even easier replacement of consumables, the cartridges are mounted on the front of the device (right under a drop-down panel).

There are three color and one single black cartridges that come in only one type of capacity, enough for 1000 pages. Another important details is that both black and color cartridges cost the same. Due to a monthly cycle that limits the printer to 20000 pages, the Samsung CLP-315 is as mentioned before best suited for home offices or businesses with lower volume printing needs. Ethernet or WiFi allows the use of this printer in a workgroup, and the alternative connection is the usual USB 2.0.

The low price is a clear indicator for the quality and speed of prints as no one ever expects manufacturers to cut down cost while offering the exact same quality of their top of the line devices. In this case, the CLP-315W will print out about around 14 pages per minute for regular text and under 3 pages per minute for color imagery. The printer seems extremely easy to set up on any operating system (that includes Windows, Max OSX and ‘Various Linux OS’). The manufacturer’s claim that you’ll get started in no time at all really is accurate and installing the printer won’t seem difficult.

The conclusion is simple. This printer is lightweight and has a small footprint so it will easily fit on your desk, but once it’s gotten there it might simply not be worth of the space it takes because of relatively poor printing quality (compared to similar lasers), slow printing speeds and consumables that make owning the Samsung CLP-315W color laser printer a bit more expensive than similar printers. It’s not a horrible device and will most likely do its job, but there’s a wide variety of entry-level lasers that can perform better.

Like many other people working in a small office, I’ve done my share of printing throughout my ‘career’. Every office I’ve been in so far had a different choice in printers and brands and I can’t exactly complain about any of the devices I’ve used in the past years. But it has occurred to me that out of those many years of printing various documents, I’ve only a couple of times printed something in color.

As I was preparing to write this article I was slightly puzzled by the concept of a monochrome laser printer when the market is filled with inkjet and color laser all-in-ones to fit the needs of any office. But the conclusion is, there is no point to spend a higher amount of money for a high end color laser printer when all you need is crisp black text. The series of Samsung SCX laser printers include models to suit whatever needs an office may have.

A simple and cost-efficient multifunction mono laser printer like the Samsung SCX-4600 would probably be a perfect choice. Like most printers in this line the design of the SCX-4600 features rounder corners, a compact and stylish design and a dark plastic case. The two-line monochrome LCD provides much needed basic information and the buttons around it are chosen properly for anything you may need to do without the help of a computer. Samsung’s SCX-4600 offers copying, scanning and printing features. A series of useful extras include the Print Screen tool that allows you to print what’s on your desktop at the press of a single button and ‘AnyWeb’, an application that allows the user to select various sections of internet sites and collate them on one page for printing.

Setting this printer up is very easy. It comes with a toner, as the only consumable that ever needs to be replaced. To gain access to the toner you’ll simply have to open the flap that’s found on the front of the printer. The starter cartridge that Samsung’s printer ships with will only be enough for about 700 pages, but when you decide to replace it you can opt for either a 1500 page or 2500 page toner, depending on the printing volume you need. For paper storage you’ll be getting an input tray, on the front side right towards the bottom. It has a paper capacity of 250 sheets. For envelopes and non-standard media types you’ll get a manual single-sheet feeder. According to the manufacturer, this printer hits 22 pages per minute which proved to be accurate after some printing tests.

The bad part of it all, as in the case of many lasers, is the warm up time. Printing quality is exactly what you’d expect from an office laser, perhaps even better, as the SCX-4600 can easily compete even with pricier products on the market. The only reason why you’d want to avoid these Samsung SCX laser printers would be the lack of some key features for office user like networking (in the form of either wireless or Ethernet), automatic document feeder or duplexer.

The general impression is that laser printers are best suited for an office environment. Most people also believe that to purchase a good quality color laser printer you’ll need to spend a large amount of money. Samsung, a manufacturer that specializes in almost any type of electronic or machinery, begs to disagree with that statement.

To prove this, the company is offering the Samsung CLP 300 printer, a small and highly affordable color laser, for only $250. This printer comes with no networking features, but if you’re looking for a workgroup printer you’ll also find one in Samsung’s product lineup. The CLP-300N retails for an extra $100 and is still highly affordable comparing to similar products.

Of course, the cost of this printer means you’ll have to compromise on some aspects. The CLP-300 is neither the fastest nor the highest quality laser on the market. In fact, if you stop to consider your options a bit, you just may be better off with a cheap all-in-one inkjet printer that offers a huge set of features and maybe even some good photo printing. But if you’re the type of user that doesn’t have high expectations or printing needs, and would rather pay more attention to costs, Samsung’s CLP-300 may be exactly the device you need. This printer is remarkably small for a color laser. It measures 15.4 x 13.5 x 10.4 inches and weighs 30 pounds. What does this mean, aside from more desk space for you?

It means lower paper capacity. You’ll find a single 150 sheet paper tray on the front of the device. It can hold several sizes of media, from 3 by 5 inch to legal-size paper. The output tray can be found on the top of the CLP-300. Since costs had to be cut to keep the price so low, there is no LCD or much navigation. However, you’ll find the cancel button as well as four LED indicators that let you know when it’s time to replace the toners.

Aside from low paper capacity, the small size of this printer is also due to a unique toner setup. Samsung managed to separate the drum from the toner and shrink the overall size of consumables. The four toners (cyan, magenta, yellow, black) all plug into the front of one drum. This manages to save space as well as money and the process of replacing consumables is simplified.

Since this Samsung clp 300 printer was manufactured to be affordable, obviously its speed isn’t the best you can find on the market. You’ll be getting black text printing at about 14 pages per minute, black graphics at a slow 4 pages per minute and color for around 3-4 pages per minute, for both graphics and text. Add to that the warm up time and you really shouldn’t be in a hurry when using this printer. But as mentioned before, if you want to cut down on the price you pay for equipping your office with a printer and you don’t have great expectations from the said device, the CLP-300 does quite well.

The Samsung CLP-510N printer is a color laser that targets small office and home users. It comes with a resolution of up to 1200 x 1200 dpi and provides much appreciated network connectivity features. You could say that the CLP-510N is not only satisfying as print quality but that it kind of surprises you in a pleasant way as well, at least when it comes to color graphics. The text is not necessarily as sharp as one might expect but that’s just if you have high printing standards and needs from documents.

When you receive the printer you’ll get a very large and heavy box for which you’ll probably require some help to move around. Upon unpacking you’ll find the four toners for the CLP-510N in the colors you’ve probably gotten used to by now (black, cyan, magenta and yellow) as well as a bunch of manuals, software CD and the device itself.

Print speed is not extraordinary but will fit most users’ needs at up to 25 pages per minute in mono and 6 pages per minute in color. Duplexing speeds are of 11 ppm black & white and 6 ppm color. The duplexer is a great feature to have in an office printer. It allows printing on both sides of the paper without having to spend time and energy twisting and turning paper, re-inserting it and hoping you did it the right way.

It also saves paper as you’ll be printing on both sides of a sheet, instead of 2 distinct sheets of paper. Some users, like me, might be annoyed by the high first page out time, especially if printing is not done on a regular basis and heavily in your office. It doesn’t matter if a printer can produce 50 copies in a one minute interval, if you have to wait for it to warm up for what seems like an eternity, especially if you’re in the rush for printing one single page. Because of this, it’s nice to know that Samsung also worked on that and lowered the first page out time to 13 seconds for monochrome and 21 seconds for color.

Lower on the front you will find the paper tray with a capacity of 250 sheets of paper while on the right side you can also make use of a 100 sheet auxiliary feeder. As opposed to the more affordable CLP-510, the CLP-510N also comes with networking capabilities. The printer can be set up to work with almost any operating system including Windows, Linux and Macintosh.

As a conclusion, the Samsung CLP-510N printer is an inexpensive solution for any small office, that offers both duplexing and networking. The control panel and the layout of the printer might be a bit confusing, and the text quality could be a little better. Fot the navigation there is a simple solution though; you can print a menu map and stick it somewhere close to the printer to see which option is where in the menu. Overall it’s one of the better printers out there on the market.

One thing Samsung seems to be pretty good at? Providing affordable laser printers, be it color or monochrome. They are actually doing better than other brands such as HP or Ricoh. Apparently, their theory that they should provide exactly what the consumer is looking for, followed by carefully studying what the consumer requires, is really paying off.

The starter cartridges it comes with will offer just about 2000 pages for black and 1500 pages for color. This means that if you have a small office you’ll end up changing them in the shortest time possible. If for some reason you’ve purchased this for home however, and you don’t need serious printing, the 2000 pages will do well for you. While the full cartridges will last for 7000 pages (mono) and 5000 pages (color) they are unreasonably expensive.

Samsung should have payed a bit more attention to what the consumer needs in this case, as they failed to provide networking, on a printer that targets small offices. This is sort of counter intuitive and will probably cut the target audience by at least half. They do come as an extra (both Ethernet and wireless) but one wonders why you’d have to spend more money to equip this with networking when you can buy a printer that provides that off the shelf.

Bottom line is, all you’ll be getting with the CLP-500 is USB 2.0 (no cable included so you have to buy your own). Setting up the printer is very easy though, as in the case of most Samsung products. Right after you purchase an USB cable, all you have to do is plug the printer in, and that’s about it.

Fully equipped with cartridges it will weigh a ‘mere’ 35 kg. When you consider where you’re going to be placing it also consider that it measures 51 x 47 x 40.5 cm. The Samsung CLP-500 printer could be called bulky but to some extent most color laser printers that were designed for office use are larger as size. As for paper capacity, you’ll be getting a 250 sheet output tray on the top of the device, and 250 sheet input tray. There’s also an extra 500 sheet input tray available for purchase for users that want to increase paper capacity. A multipurpose tray is on the right side of the printer but it will somewhat disapoint with it’s capacity of only 10 sheets of media. Media supported includes envelopes, labels or transparencies.

On the bright side the printer comes with a duplexer, so printing on both sides of the paper will be easy and convenient and you’ll be saving up on paper and time. Speed is pretty average, 20 pages per minute for monochrome and 5 pages per minute for printing color in A4. Quality is good towards great. The graphics quality is somewhat better than the text but both are satisfactory. So, if a user is looking for an affordable color laser printer that can produce good quality prints and also includes a duplexer, the Samsung CLP-500 printer is a very good idea. However, people that require a huge output of paper should look somewhere else, as running costs may become higher than the initial buying cost.

The business philosophy of Samsung Electronics states that it’s highly important to provide exactly the product that customers need, no more no less. They also seemingly spend a large amount of time evaluating their own products through ‘the eyes’ of their consumers. One of their products, the Samsung ML 2150 is a very affordable monochrome laser printer that can be set up to work for a workgroup. When they released it, which is quite a few years ago, it was probably a remarkable product. Prices of color laser printers were sky high and it’s understandable why someone would want to save up on money and stick to monochrome.

Since technology evolved a lot and color laser printers are already relatively affordable, there’s no telling what the purpose of a mono laser printer is nowadays. But it’s true that this printer was released quite a while ago and I guess there are still companies out there, saving up on money, specially during the recession. The ML 2150 thus is the ideal choice for an office that requires high volume black and white printing.

The Samsung laser printer ML 2150 can print on media up to legal (8.5 x 14 inches) to A4. It has a maximum resolution of 1200 dpi and a paper capacity of 600 sheets (without any optional media tray). This means that you won’t have to replace the paper in it that often, specially compared to competing products. Oddly enough its design is compact and stylish. Back in the day it was actually among the smallest printers on the market. It will work on pretty much any available operating system including Windows, Linux or Mac (and apparently SunSoft Solaris).

The printing speed (for black as it has no color) is of 20 pages per minute which used to be great but now just manages to be average. Nevertheless it’s a great speed for an affordable device. With a monthly cycle of 100,000 pages it just about fits any small office’s needs. It comes with 16MB of installed RAM which can be expanded up to 144MB and holds a processor of 166Mhz

Another feature that makes it very convenient for office use is the built in duplexer. What this means is that you can print on both sides of the page, without having to bother to re-insert the sheet, thus saving time and paper, and possibly even avoiding frustration. While it’s easy to connect the printer to a PC through the included USB port, there is also a parallel port in case older systems are still in the office.

You can still find this printer on the market, for roughly $250. It’s dirt cheap compared to other office printers. Sure, it may not provide color printing and its quality and speed may be a bit behind what more modern products are offering, but for this kind of money, the Samsung laser printer ML 2150 has great features and reliability.

When considering what printer to buy for an office, most experienced users have a few guidelines and choices. Those choices include: whether to select an all-in-one inkjet that also produces some quality photo prints, or a laser color printer that can’t be matched when it comes to speed. Whether it’s small or bigger, black or white, there are a couple of brands that you’ll check out the first moment you run into a shop (or online shop).

These will generally be HP, Epson, Ricoh and Konica Minolta. Samsung, for example, might not be one of them. This is because they haven’t become so popular on the market with their printers, even though as a manufacturer they are reliable and they offer high quality products.

One of their offerings for small businesses is the all-in-one color laser printer named CLX-6200FX. It can color copy, scan, fax and print. So that’s just about everything you’ll ever need from an office printer. It also packs a couple of more interesting (although not mandatory) features. For example, due to a direct USB port the user can print files directly from an USB stick.

Other nice features include scan-to-email and automatic document feeder that holds 50 sheets. The manufacturer sells this printer for small businesses, but they should also mention that people interested should have a big door if they consider purchasing this. Multifunction all-in-ones were never small, and this one is actually plain bulky, weighting just around 80 pounds.

The speed of the Samsung printer is more than satisfying, at least on paper. When it comes to real life, warm up time can prove to be annoying. It does actually hit the speed of 20 pages per minute, but over 20 seconds spent to wait for the printer to come out of standby may sometimes be annoying. This is unfortunately something you may have to get used to when working with a color laser printer.

Quality of the Samsung CLX-6200FX is great and the prints look pretty sharp and rich in color. The printer has four toner cartridges (the usual black, yellow, magenta and cyan) that will last for approximately 2500 printed pages. Since you won’t change them very often, the cost of the toners (pretty high) won’t bother you that much. The input capacity is of 250 sheets and the multipurpose tray holds an extra 100 sheets. A secondary (optional) cassette feeder can also be installed. It works for a workgroup, but wired. Wireless networking is not available for this printer.

As a conclusion, this printer is a good choice for people who require a fast device that produces high quality prints. It’s relatively easy to set up and works well in a work-group. Only thing you will have to worry about is having it moved to your office (it really is quite heavy). If you must have wireless networking then the more expensive big brother of the CLX-6200FX Samsung printer, the 6210FX might be just the thing for you.
